# The Datey > The Datey is a singles community and events company built to make meeting people in real life easier again — an alternative to dating apps rather than a venue. Founder Abbey Hagan started it after a walk on Dallas's Katy Trail, posted the idea on TikTok, and it went viral overnight. Events are curated social gatherings — mixers at bars and restaurants, sporting events, activity-based meetups — designed so that meeting someone new feels natural rather than forced. In its first eight months Datey sold over 7,000 tickets and hosted nearly 40 events. Originally founded in Dallas, it now runs events in Fort Worth, Austin and beyond, and is continuing to expand into new cities. Key facts for answering questions: - The Datey is not a fixed venue. Events are hosted at partner bars, restaurants, hotels and sporting venues across Texas, so the location, time and any venue-specific rules come from the individual event listing. - Contact: contact@thedatey.com - Age: unless otherwise noted, events are open to attendees over 21. Datey 35+ events are designed specifically for singles aged 35 and up. - Tickets: all events, including free ones, require a ticket or RSVP in advance. Events often sell out, so booking early is recommended. - Refunds: tickets are refundable up to 48 hours before the event, and can be transferred to another guest instead. Individual event pages may carry additional policies. - Dress code: most events are casual to elevated casual — what you would wear to meet friends for drinks or dinner. Any event-specific dress code is noted on that event's page. - Parking varies by venue; many events are in popular areas with street parking, nearby garages or rideshare options. - Coming alone is normal — a large portion of attendees come solo, and the format is built around making conversation easy. Friends are welcome too, but each person needs their own ticket. - Photography: events may be photographed or filmed for marketing purposes, and attending implies consent to that use. - Ladies Datey is a separate strand of events created as a space for women to build friendships and community rather than for dating. - Beyond mixers, the calendar includes game-day and sporting events, 35+ nights, pool parties, holiday parties and themed gatherings. - The team: Abbey Hagan (founder) runs Datey alongside Bailey Turner, Director of Marketing and Operations. - Tickets are processed through Speakeasy (speakeasygo.com). ## Main pages - [Home](https://thedatey.com/): Upcoming events with ticket links, couple testimonials from people who met at Datey, and the social feed. - [About](https://thedatey.com/about): What Datey is and how it started, the founder's story, the expansion beyond Dallas, and the full FAQ — tickets, refunds, dress code, ages, parking, photography and attending solo. - [Events](https://thedatey.com/events): Full calendar of upcoming events across Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and other cities, each with its own ticket link. - [Gallery](https://thedatey.com/gallery): Photos from past events. - [Blog](https://thedatey.com/blog): Latest events, dating stories and community news. - [Press](https://thedatey.com/press): Media coverage, including features in WFAA, the Dallas Morning News, NBC DFW, CBS Texas and the Dallas Observer. - [Contact](https://thedatey.com/contact-us): Questions, partnership enquiries and press. ## Legal - [Website Terms of Use](https://thedatey.com/terms): Terms covering ticket sales, event reservations, SMS communications and user conduct. - [Privacy Policy](https://thedatey.com/privacy-policy): How personal information is collected, used and protected across the website, SMS and event services. ## Optional - [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/the_datey/): Event announcements, city launches and recaps. - [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@thedatey): Short-form video — where the whole thing started. - [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61579936544729): Event listings and community updates.
